Ahmet Akarsu is a computer engineer and a self-educated freelancer musician from North Cyprus. He plays mostly Cypriot folk music and Turkish pop and rock music. Ahmet's main instrument is the violin but he also plays darbuka, kaval, ud and accordion. He performs with a number of bands in North Cyprus and he has been to many music and folk dance workshops and festivals around the World. His live performance with YEKSAD Folk Dance Group at Drummondville Festival in Canada in July 2005 was recorded by ARC Music from UK and the CD was published in UK in February 2006. Ahmet's most recent recording is "Asker Olduk", a song written and sang by KuZEy TarıK. Ahmet also has his own folk music recordings where he played all the instruments.

World_Folklore E-mail Group that Ahmet founded in 2002 has now become a strong bridge among folklore community.
